Born on Jan. 19 1946 at Locust Ridge Tenn into a struggling family that would one day consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the challenges of life with her vast and imaginative imagination. Even before learning to compose or read the first song she ever composed, she was composing the music she composed herself. In the year she turned 8 at the time, she purchased the first electric guitar she owned and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. At the time, she also recorded her first recording on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. When she was still in highschool she became famous locally however she longed for a bigger stage. After graduating from high school in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer for his show that was syndicated from the beginning. Parton accepted the job and in the year 1967, she signed with RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. She left Wagoner's show, nevertheless, in 1974 when her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums.
