Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. [7][8] Born and raised on the suburbs of Barcelona her music is described as an "atypical pop star" because of her genre-bending music styles. 9 years ago, at the age of 13, she fell fascination with Spanish folk music, and she studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music. She was also a guest at weddings and music bars. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Her family has no artistic heritage and is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who runs a small family company which specializes in metalworks. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. The couple split in 2019. The older sister of Rosalia, Pilar Vila she was born in 1989 was her stylist. Rosalia discovered her love for the performing arts when she was a young girl especially after discovering the discography of Camaron de La Isla. At the Taller de Musics, she began her music education. She was enrolled in a six-year course at the academy. She started attending classes at the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. In addition, she worked as an independent singer at weddings and in bars with musical music, for which she was paid "a barely over 80 euros in exchange for dinner". Rosalia was capable of meeting many underground Spanish artists at the time such as La Zowi and Yung Beef, Kaydy Case, Hinds, Maria Escarmiento, and Kaydy Cain.
